Ethan was born in Milwaukee, WI. on July 10, 1962, the oldest of five children of Bill and Judy Steinbrenner. In 1971 his family moved to Fond du Lac, WI. There he attended the rest of his grade school years at St. Peter's Lutheran School and attended high school at Winnebago Lutheran Academy. Ethan then enrolled at Northwestern College in Watertown, WI. and afterward went on to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI., graduating in May of 1989.
He married Susan Sadenwasser in May of 1985, just after graduating college. During the seminary years, the one year of internship - “vicarage” - was spent at the dual parish of Christ Lutheran Church of Eagle River and St. John's Lutheran Church of Phelps which are located in the far north of Wisconsin. Pastor Eugene Ahlswede served as his supervising pastor. Also during these 4 years of seminary study, three children were born – Warren, Andrea and Rachel.
In May of 1989 he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and was assigned into the ministry at Bethany Lutheran in Fort Atkinson. In subsequent years, the Lord blessed the family with three more children – Alyssa, Laura and Joseph.
Ethan has also served in the past as a member of the Lakeside Lutheran High School Board of Regents and as an officer in the local pastoral conference. He currently serves as Circuit Pastor for our area.
